ANSWERING 24/7 | HABLAMOS ESPAÑOL
Planning futures. Protecting legacies. Preserving peace of mind.
Asset protection is structuring what you own so that a future lawsuit, creditor, or long-term care bill cannot take it. It is done in advance, lawfully, and in the open. Our Providence attorneys design the structure, then put it in place with deeds, trusts, and entities that hold up.

Is this for you?

You want to preserve a home or savings against care costs
You have more than one property or significant savings
Separates personal assets from business risk

How it works
1
What you own, how it is titled, what could reach it, and what Rhode Island already protects.
2
Irrevocable trusts, LLCs for business and rental property, beneficiary and title changes, and insurance gaps identified.
3
Deeds, operating agreements, trust documents, and retitling, executed and recorded.
4
Reviewed as assets, laws, and risks change. Protection is a structure, not a one-time document.
What we do for you
You describe your family and what you own. We explain the options without jargon, and you decide.
Every document is written to Rhode Island's requirements, not adapted from a generic form.
You know exactly what is included before any work begins. No open-ended billing on planning work.
Witnesses, notary, and execution handled so banks, hospitals, and courts accept the documents.
A marriage, a birth, a move, or a sale can change the plan. We tell you when it is time to revisit it.
Phone, email, and the client portal, with a lawyer who knows your file. Hablamos español.

Common questions
Yes, when done in advance and in the open. Structuring ownership before any claim exists is ordinary planning. Moving assets after a claim arises, to defeat a known creditor, is a fraudulent transfer and can be undone. Timing is everything, which is why we start before there is a problem.
Rhode Island provides a homestead exemption for a primary residence, protection for retirement accounts and certain insurance, and other statutory exemptions. We identify what you already have before adding structure.
No. A revocable trust avoids probate but assets in it remain yours and reachable by creditors. Protection requires an irrevocable structure or a separate entity, with the trade-offs that brings.
It can, within the rules. Transfers are subject to a look-back period, so planning done years in advance preserves far more than planning done at the point of need. This is a conversation to have early.
No. Insurance is the first line of defence and asset protection structures are the second. We review your coverage as part of the plan, because an underinsured risk is the most common gap we find.
