Rhode Island Car Accident Attorney

While others say justice for all, we say justice for you.

A crash on Route 95, Route 10, or a Cranston side street turns into an insurance file within hours, and the other driver's insurer is already working on it. Our Providence car accident lawyers take over the claim so you can concentrate on getting better.

Do you have a car accident claim in Rhode Island?

Most claims come down to three questions. If the answer to all three is yes, it is worth a conversation, and the conversation costs nothing.

Was another driver careless?

Running a light, texting, following too closely, drifting over a line, driving drunk. Rhode Island is an at-fault state: the careless driver's insurer is responsible for the harm.

Were you injured?

Whiplash, fractures, a concussion, back injury, or anything that sent you to a doctor and kept you from work. Property damage alone is a different kind of claim.

Is it within three years?

Rhode Island gives most car accident claims three years from the crash date. Evidence disappears far sooner, so earlier is better.

What we do for you

How Tarro Law will help you

From the first call to the final payment, this is what working with us looks like.

A free, honest case review

Tell us what happened. We tell you whether there is a claim, and we say so plainly if there is not.

We deal with the insurer

Every call, letter, and recorded-statement request goes through us from the first day. You speak to no adjuster alone.

We move on the evidence first

Preservation letters, camera footage, and witness accounts are secured before they disappear, usually within days.

You focus on recovery

We track every bill, record, and lost workday while you concentrate on treatment.

No fee unless we recover

The contingency fee is set out in writing before we start. If there is no recovery, no attorney's fee is owed.

Direct access to your attorney

Phone, email, and the client portal, with a lawyer who knows your file. Hablamos español.

Car Accidents

How we build a Rhode Island car accident case

The crash report and the scene

We obtain the police report, request any 911 recordings, and photograph the intersection before road conditions or signage change.

Cameras and data

Traffic cameras, business surveillance, dashcams, and the other vehicle's event data recorder. Footage is often overwritten within days, so preservation letters go out immediately.

Your medical picture

Every visit, bill, and restriction, plus the opinion of your treating physicians on what recovery looks like. The claim's value depends on this being complete.

All available insurance

The at-fault driver's policy, any employer or owner policy if they were driving for work, and your own uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, which many people do not realize they can use.

Compensation

What a claim can cover

Not every category applies to every case. Which ones apply to yours depends on the injury, the evidence, and the insurance available.

Money you have lost

  • Emergency care, hospital stays, and surgery

  • Ongoing treatment, therapy, and medication

  • Projected future medical care

  • Wages lost while unable to work

  • Reduced earning capacity going forward

  • Property damage

Harm that has no invoice

  • Physical pain, during recovery and after

  • Emotional distress and loss of sleep

  • Scarring and disfigurement

  • Loss of the activities that made life yours

  • Loss of companionship within a marriage

How it is paid

  • Through the responsible party's insurance

  • Through your own uninsured or underinsured coverage where it applies

  • By settlement, or by verdict if a fair settlement is refused

  • With every deduction itemized in writing before you sign

Right now

What to do next

What you do in the first days affects what the claim is worth months later. None of this requires hiring anyone.

1

Get checked, even if you walked away

Adrenaline hides injuries. A gap between the crash and your first medical visit is the first thing an adjuster will point to.

2

Report the crash

Call police at the scene. Rhode Island also requires a written report to the DMV within 21 days if anyone was hurt or damage exceeded $1,000.

3

Photograph everything

Both vehicles, the road, skid marks, signals, weather, and your injuries. Your photos may be the only record of the scene as it was.

4

Do not give a recorded statement to the other insurer

You are not required to. Adjusters are trained to ask questions whose answers reduce the claim.

5

Keep a simple file

Bills, discharge papers, missed work days, mileage to appointments, and a short note each week on what you could not do.

Common questions

Car Accidents questions we hear first

What is my Rhode Island car accident case worth?

It depends on the injury, the medical bills and lost income, how clear fault is, and how much insurance exists. A claim cannot be valued properly until treatment has stabilized, and anyone who quotes a figure on a first call is guessing.

The other driver's insurer offered me money. Should I take it?

Speak with a lawyer first. Early offers arrive before anyone knows what your treatment will cost, and accepting usually means signing a release that ends the claim permanently.

What if the other driver had no insurance, or not enough?

Your own policy may include uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage. Rhode Island insurers must offer it, and it is often the only route to a full recovery when the at-fault driver carried the state minimum.

How long will my car accident claim take?

A clear-fault claim with completed treatment can resolve in months. A serious injury, or a disputed-fault case that requires a lawsuit, can take a year or longer. Your own recovery sets the pace.

Do I pay anything up front?

No. Car accident cases are handled on a contingency fee. The consultation is free, there is no hourly billing, and the fee is a percentage of any recovery set out in a written agreement. If there is no recovery, no attorney's fee is owed.
