Rhode Island Motorcycle Accident Attorney

While others say justice for all, we say justice for you.

Riders are hurt worse and blamed more. A driver who turns left across your lane on Route 1 will often tell the insurer you were speeding, and the insurer will often believe them. Our job is to put the actual evidence in front of them.

Do you have a motorcycle accident claim in Rhode Island?

Most claims come down to three questions. If the answer to all three is yes, it is worth a conversation, and the conversation costs nothing.

Did a driver fail to see you or yield?

Left turns across a rider's path, lane changes into a motorcycle, and rear-end hits at lights are the most common causes, and the driver is usually at fault.

Were you injured?

Road rash, fractures, head and spinal injuries, even with full gear. Riders have no frame around them; injuries that are minor in a car are serious on a bike.

Is it within three years?

Rhode Island's three-year filing window applies. Witnesses and camera footage are gone far sooner.

Motorcycle Accidents

How we build a Rhode Island motorcycle case

Countering the speed narrative

Skid analysis, crush damage, and camera footage establish speed objectively. The driver's assumption is replaced with physics.

Witnesses, fast

Independent witnesses are the strongest answer to a driver's version. We locate and record them before memories fade.

The full injury picture

Motorcycle injuries involve long recoveries and permanent limitation. Treating physicians and, where needed, life care planners document what the future holds.

Every policy

The driver's liability policy, any employer policy, and your own uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage across every vehicle you insure.

Compensation

What a claim can cover

Not every category applies to every case. Which ones apply to yours depends on the injury, the evidence, and the insurance available.

Money you have lost

  • Emergency care, hospital stays, and surgery

  • Ongoing treatment, therapy, and medication

  • Projected future medical care

  • Wages lost while unable to work

  • Reduced earning capacity going forward

  • Property damage

Harm that has no invoice

  • Physical pain, during recovery and after

  • Emotional distress and loss of sleep

  • Scarring and disfigurement

  • Loss of the activities that made life yours

  • Loss of companionship within a marriage

How it is paid

  • Through the responsible party's insurance

  • Through your own uninsured or underinsured coverage where it applies

  • By settlement, or by verdict if a fair settlement is refused

  • With every deduction itemized in writing before you sign

Right now

What to do next

What you do in the first days affects what the claim is worth months later. None of this requires hiring anyone.

1

Get examined the same day

Head and internal injuries from a motorcycle crash can be silent for hours.

2

Keep your gear

Your helmet, jacket, and the bike itself are evidence of impact. Do not repair, sell, or discard anything.

3

Photograph the scene and the other vehicle

Position of the vehicles, the intersection, signals, and your injuries.

4

Do not discuss fault with anyone

Not the other driver, not their insurer, not on social media.

5

Report to the DMV within 21 days

Required in Rhode Island when there is an injury or more than $1,000 in damage.

Common questions

Motorcycle Accidents questions we hear first

I wasn't wearing a helmet. Do I still have a claim?

Yes. If Rhode Island law did not require a helmet for you, riding without one is not negligence. An insurer may still argue it worsened a head injury; that argument affects the size of a head-injury component, not whether you have a claim.

The driver says they didn't see me. Doesn't that mean no one is at fault?

The opposite. Drivers have a duty to look for and yield to motorcycles. Failing to see a rider who was there to be seen is the negligence.

What is my motorcycle accident claim worth?

It depends on the severity and permanence of the injury, your medical costs and lost income, fault, and available coverage. Rider injuries are often serious, so these claims are frequently limited by insurance rather than by the injury.

How long do I have to file in Rhode Island?

Three years from the crash for most claims. Call well before that, because the evidence that counters an insurer's bias disappears quickly.

Do I pay anything up front?

No. Motorcycle accident cases are handled on a contingency fee. The consultation is free, there is no hourly billing, and the fee is a percentage of any recovery set out in a written agreement. If there is no recovery, no attorney's fee is owed.
