Michael A. Tarro Jr. is a business attorney and content editor for Thomson Reuters Practical Law. He represents clients across a variety of industries, including healthcare, real estate, tech, home services, and online services.

Michael has advised more than 100 family-owned companies, professionals, and high growth businesses on entity structuring, asset protection, and legal strategy. He’s guided clients through complex formations, restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, financing transactions, and asset sales.

His clientele generally consists of businesses between $1M and $25M in annual revenue, high-growth startups, and organizations with multiple business units or those growing through acquisition. He has broad experience in client management, counseling clients ranging from retiring or departing business owners, to investor-funded companies in the media and entertainment space, to a Shark Tank-backed enterprise.

His dual experience in corporate transactions and legal publishing gives him a rare combination of frontline insight and market perspective. As a Senior Associate Legal Editor at Practical Law, Michael maintains a transactional database of purchase and financing agreements in bankruptcy contexts and has summarized over 200 deals, including sales involving national brands. His resources are used by more than 1,000 attorney subscribers.

Michael earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, with Distinction in Intellectual Property, and his B.A. in Politics & Law from Bryant University.

Licensed in Rhode Island and Florida, he also brings a deep passion for entrepreneurship, fitness, and creative ventures—frequently drawing from his own experience in public company, sports agency, content creation, and business ownership to better serve his clients.

Michael's Highlights
